Dr. Harold D. Segal practices neurosurgery and plays in a blues/rock band with one of his daughters. He resides in San Luis Obispo, California, living on the side of a mountain called Bishop Peak. He takes a five-minute drive down the hill to get to his office, gathering more experiences to write about in his next novel.
