Joan Dash spent three years in researching 'Summoned to Jerusalem, ' searching archives here and in Jerusalem and interviewing people who had known and worked with Henrietta Szold. Mrs. Dash, whose previous book is 'A Life of One's Own: Three Gifted Women and the Men They Married, ' lives in Seattle.
