After studying chemical engineering (specialization in molecular and structural product design) at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, Dr.-Ing. Hendrik Mainka at the Bremen Fiber Institute at the University of Bremen (Prof. Dr. Axel Herrmann) in the field of production technology. From 2011 to mid-2015, Dr.-Ing. Hendrik Mainka in Group Research at Volkswagen AG and was responsible for the FA Alternative Fiber Reinforcements in the Materials and Manufacturing Processes department. In August 2015, Dr.-Ing. Hendrik Mainka joined the Volkswagen Group of America and heads the Product Innovation department at the North American Engineering & Planning Center. Dr.-Ing. Hendrik Mainka also completed a one-year research stay at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (Material Science and Technology Division, Subdivision Carbon and Composites) in the USA.
