Prof. R. P. Singh, Director, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, India has been completed his master degree M.Sc. in Agronomy (1968) from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and doctoral degree Ph.D. in Agronomy (1972) from Indian Agriculture Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi. During his academic period he got two meritorious awards viz., National Merit Scholarship in M.Sc. (Ag.) and Senior ICAR Fellowship in Ph.D. degree. Dr. Singh starts his career from a Lecturer (Agronomy) in Banaras Hindu University (BHU) during 1972 and reached on an appreciable position of Director (2011), Institute of Agricultural Sciences, BHU, Varanasi via Reader (1981), Professor (1991), Head (2003) of Agronomy Department and Dean (2007) of Faculty of Agriculture, BHU. Besides 38 years teaching experience Prof. Singh has been engaged with independent research and guided a number of students of M.Sc. (26) and Ph.D. (19) degree programmes. He has published more than 125 research papers, popular articles, book chapters and books/manuals under various leading journals and reputed publishers. Apart from this he has engaged as principal investigator with several projects funded by different organizations. During his professional career Dr. Singh has been awarded by many national and International bodies.
