Valerie Ooka Pang is an award-winning author and professor in the School of Teacher Education at San Diego State University. She was a first- and second-grade teacher in rural and urban schools. Due to her work in Multicultural Education, social studies education, and teacher education, Dr. Pang has been a consultant for corporations such as Sesame Street, Fox Children's network, Family Communications (producer of Mr. Roger's Neighborhood), McGraw-Hill, and Scott Foresman. She has been published in a variety of journals and was senior editor of a text called "Struggling to Be Heard: The Unmet Needs of Asian Pacific American Children," which is the only multidisciplinary text on Asian Pacific American children.
