Steven J. Anderson is an independent author and retired carpenter. His main passion and pursuit, however, has been the lifelong study of the Native American people and their culture, especially the Lakota Sioux of South Dakota. Steven has made multiple charitable excursions out to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota (the single most poverty stricken and largely forgotten geographical area in the United States). Putting his carpentry skills to further use, he and his sons, over the years, have done small home repairs for low income families there. Steven's Yonder Mountain series is largely dedicated to the Lakota people. He has learned to speak their native language and will often use Lakota words and names in his writings. His short story, 'Dakota Land' in Yonder Mountain; Or, the Life Between (vol.1) is based upon the actual account of one of his trips to the Pine Ridge Reservation. Needless to say, the Lakota people have been a great inspiration and blessing to Steve and his family in many ways. Steven resides in South East, Michigan and is currently working on a new title, 'Night Song, ' the second volume in his ongoing Yonder Mountain series.
