Theo Aronson was born in South Africa in 1929 but moved to London as a young man. Fascinated by royalty since he was a child, he decided to become a royal biographer. His first book, The Golden Bees, was an international bestseller and he went on to write over twenty biographies, including The Royal Family at War and Princess Margaret. His last book was the charmingly anecdotal Royal Subjects. He died in 2003.
