Born and raised in New York City and its suburbs, Carole Giangrande came to Canada to study at the University of Toronto. She's the author of An Ordinary Star and A Forest Burning (both novels), Missing Persons (a collection of short stories), and two non-fiction books. She worked for many years as a broadcast journalist for CBC Radio. An extended stint in Ontario's barnyards as a farm reporter caused her to re-evaluate her career options and she switched to writing. Her essays have been anthologized and her fiction, articles and reviews have appeared in Grain, New Quarterly, Descant, Canadian Forum, Matrix, The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star and Books in Canada. She's recently completed a new novel and she's now hosting Words to Go, a podcast for writers and readers. She's married and she loves language study (Italian and French), gardening, and of course, reading.
