Derek Ansell was born in London and has lived in Newbury, Berkshire for the past forty years. He is the author of two biographies of jazz musicians, Hank Mobley and Jackie McLean, both published by Northway Publications, London. A novel, The Whitechapel Murders was published by Citron Press in 1999 and is now available from Lulu.com. Derek Ansell writes jazz and classical music features and criticism for Jazz Journal and Newbury Weekly News on a regular basis. He is married with three daughters, three granddaughters and two grandsons.
