James Davidson (PhD, University of Notre Dame) is professor of sociology at Purdue University, with specialization in the sociology of religion, particularly studies of American Catholicism. In addition to a bi-weekly column for diocesan newspapers throughout the United States, he is the author of numerous books. Davidson's books have been highly praised and widely used in both church and academic circles.
