William Curry Holden (1896-1993) was a historian and archaeologist at Texas Tech University, where he taught for forty years. He was also the first director of Museum of Texas Tech in Lubbock, which included the Moody Planetarium, the Natural Science Research Laboratory, the Lubbock Lake Landmark, and the Val Verde County Research Center. Among his many other books are The Personal Chronicle of a Yaqui Indian (coauthor, 1971), Rollie Burns, or, An Account of the Ranching Industry on the South Plains (1932), and The Spur Ranch (1934).
