Justin Winsor (1831-1897) was a prominent writer, librarian, and historian. He published his first book, A History of the Town of Duxbury, during his freshman year at Harvard. He contributed to many periodicals, and, in addition to editing many smaller works, edited some of the most important historical works of the nineteenth century.
