Anna Sewell (1820-1878) was an English Novelist known for Black Beauty, published only 5 months before her death. Anna injured her ankles at a young age, relying on horse drawn carriages to transport her for most of her life. This is where she developed a strong love and respect for animals, specifically horses, prompting her to write her only published work about them.
