James Cox grew up in Menlo Park, CA--attending Berkeley then NYU--and is an award-winning filmmaker who's written and directed a number of acclaimed motion pictures which premiered at Sundance and Toronto, including Wonderland starring Val Kilmer, and the acclaimed short Atomic Tabasco. He's worked with multiple Academy Award and Golden Globe winners or nominees, including Jake Gyllenhaal, Anna Paquin, Taron Egerton, and Jared Leto.
Originally a cinematographer in New York and a lyricist at Atlantic Records, James is a multi-media visual artist with over half a billion views on YouTube, having directing music videos for Rise Against's "Give it All" and t.AT.u.'s "All About Us"--which earned a platinum record and MTV Russia's Music Video of the Year.
In the past he has worked with Ridley Scott, Jerry Bruckheimer, Mike DeLuca, Donna Langley, Michael Mann, New Line, Warner Bros, Lionsgate, and Disney, and is currently represented by Shane Salerno's The Story Factory (home to Michael Crichton, Michael Mann, Don Winslow, T.J. Newman, Adrian McKinty, and other global bestsellers) and just sold his first book in a series to Blackstone Publishing, releasing May 14, 2024.
A worldbuilder of science fiction, fantasy, and elevated horror, James lives with his fianc�e and their eight-month-old daughter in Los Angeles, hard at work on the sequel to his debut novel Grand Theft AI.
