John Bunyan (1628-1688) was an influential preacher and prolific author most famous for his epic Christian allegory, The Pilgrim's Progress. A dissenter, he was imprisoned twice for preaching without a license. He wrote several works, including Profitable Meditations, Praying in the Spirit, The Holy City, and Grace Abounding, during his twelve years of incarceration.
