Maths focus kit 4
1 total work
Looking at place value and decimals, this is part of a series which aims to help primary school teachers assess children's understanding of key concepts, and their ability to use and apply maths. The different activities each come with key questions to ask, responses to look for and suggestions on how to further support or extend the children's work. The activities cover: place value relationships in whole numbers to millions; using and ordering negative numbers; approximation using significant figures or decimal places; and using index notation to express powers of whole numbers. The book comes with a colour, A4, wipe-clean "postermat". Designs include game boards, picture stimuli and classroom maths resources. Diagnostic and "double check" assessment activites, reinforcement activities, and enrichment activities are included, and aspects of using and applying maths are highlighted for each activity. The aim of this is to support formative and summative assessment, develop understanding and confidence, and consolidate and extend learning.
This series is broadly linked to the National Curriculum levels, and the relevance to Scottish Guidelines and NI Curriculum for Maths is included.
