In a future where women are a rare commodity, Emma Burke wakes from an accident with no memory of her past, knowing only what her handsome and highly successful husband, Declan, tells her. But her dreams contradict everything he says, showing her a past life she can't believe possible: war, growing up in a camp where girls are trained to be wives, and, most unsettling of all, intense love for, and marriage with, a man who is not Declan.
When she realises the man from her dreams actually exists and that the life she's living may be a lie, Emma struggles to figure out who she really is and whose side she is on - the establishment she is complicit with now, or the resistance she was once part of - and decide which of the two men in her life she can truly trust and love.
