Origin, Occurrence and Behaviour of Sediments in Sewer Systems
Published 30 November 1992
The growth of urban areas throughout the world is raising huge challenges, not least for urban sanitation and drainage systems. Sewer systems, whether rehabilitated, expanded or newly constructed, must be cost effective and capable of dealing with increased loads. Sewer sediments are recognized as being major contributors to the pollution effects of urban stormwaters. This First International Workshop on Sewer Sediments attracted the world's leading experts in this field from disciplines as different as water chemistry, particle physics, rheology, sediment transport hydraulics and engineering. The result is the first up-to-date review of the subject which will be a valuable source of information appreciated by the entire water science community.
