Lord Crispin O'Neill, returning from Jamaica, brings home a young French slave by the name of Peri, as a gift for his intended bride, Pamela. Peri, devoted in truly slavish fashion, cannot bear the idea of him marrying the shrewish and self-centred Pamela, and so lays a plan to ruin the engagement.
