Alphonse and his readers investigate shapes. Alphonse, in his attempts to paint a Valentine, creates a square, a circle and a triangle by mistake. His frustration builds and so does the humour and silliness of the situation. Finally the elusive heart is painted by Alphonse's supportive little side-kick (who happens to be a mouse).

Alphonse sets out to paint Easter eggs the color of spring. One by one, he uses all the basic colors to try to paint his eggs, but each time success seems to be wihin reach, something happens. Finally, all the colors but one have been tried. Determined to the last, Alphonse finally manages the perfect purple egg. As he and the mouse admire it, it cracks open and a baby chick emerges and hops away.

With the help of a mouse, Alphonse tries, through trial and error, to paint his eggs the colors of spring.
