Prequel

The world of Troyf is changing.

Bjork has grabbed a foothold turning the dragons to take over all other races. He is using Slayne as a puppet to spread his wrath but keep himself shaded in the background. The more dragons that turn, the more power he gains, but even Bjork knows his limits. The dragons that follow him are blinded by his strength as they must still draw their powers from the Revel Rock within the caverns of Draag. Bjork knows there is one dragon, the great Anbari, whose powers could challenge his own. He knows that for his plan to be successful, he must destroy the silver dragon.

Anbari has been banished from Draag and his leadership over the dragons forfeited to that of Slayne and Bjork. He knows that his only chance of stopping the evil movement is to seek out other races and determine if together they possess the hidden strength to break the dragon's misguided unity centered at Draag and bring peace across their world.

Teamed with a power female dragon named Hawthorne and a troubled and confused bandicoot called Fehr, the three embark on one of the most dangerous adventures of all time to save their world and bring all races together as one setting the future of the Hidden Magic in motion. Anbari knows, it will take all the combined strengths of elves, dwarves, maneth, and canok to stop, The Dragon Oppression.

This book is the long-awaited prequel to the award-winning Hidden Magic series and The Return of the Dragons.

Book 1

When Kirven killed the black canok in the glade outside Toopek, he did not realize that he had just taken the first step to fulfilling Schram’s destiny. At that time he did not even know for sure if Schram was the “one.” He only knew that time was growing short for him to find the only one who could harness the power to defeat the dragons. If it wasn’t Schram, he had wasted a long time with the human. Possibly too long for the Troyf to be saved from the dragons.

In every world, there is the balance between good and evil which allows life to flourish. On Troyf, that balance has been challenged many times in the past, but never as deeply as during the Dragon Oppression. As destinies become known and characters grow, friends are seduced by evil, brothers separated to fight against each other, and one human finds powers deep within him changing everything he knew to be true with his heritage.

A group of companies must face challenges, death, love, and fate; and the choices they make could save the world or lead it into dragon rule and tyranny forever. Track these companions as they seek to master the powers put before them, and even when every action seems to be falling into place, someone or something is not what they seem to be and the Hidden Magic will either save them or end their trek for peace.

The Dragon Unknown

Geoff stared over the harbor. He watched nearly 20 ships fight for their lives against eight young dragons, all using their sheets of fire and magic to completely belittle the small vessels. Then his eyes turned to the northern skies, the darkened bodies of hundreds of dragons nearly eclipsing the clear blue normally seen across the water. The overing beasts were all unleashing immeasurable power against the barrier around the city. The brilliant light emitting from the attack was almost blinding as the barrier somehow was holding. The large maneth bowed his head. “I remember the past. I remember five dragons leveling my village and all the forests around it. I remember the pain and suffering those five alone brought with them. But this, how can we...”

For years, the companions have fought for their world. They have faced every danger imaginable. Much death has fallen in their wake, but now Schram Starland and his friends have come full circle. The magic held within Schram has finally begun to mature. His friends too have begun to understand that power which their weapons possess. Their trek is at its apex. Each has chosen a path, and follow it they must. The young dragons are here. Slayne is prepared. The war has begun and there is no turning back. The Hidden Magic will either save them or lead their world to death and destruction.

Book 3

The Death of the Dragon

by Kenneth Kappelmann

Published 31 January 2017

The dragon screamed in pain as one of Stepha’s arrows lunged deep in his throat. Jermys was on the canok in moments. In one move, he recovered his axe and placed it to the creature’s throat as well. The dragon moved quickly and was within one talon swing of killing the dwarf when Schram swung his talon equally fast across its throat, severing his head from his body.

“Stop,” shouted Schram toward the other dragon. “This is your chance to end the killing.”

The canok did not move as Jermys was still on top of him. The canok’s eyes were cold and lost and were locked on that of the large female dragon before Schram. “Do it, my queen. Kill the dwarf, and together we will kill Schram.”

There was a pause, and all seemed to get deathly quiet. Then, the dragon moved. “No!” Scram hollered as he saw her intent.

She lifted her talon up to strike the dwarf a deadly blow. Schram did the same.

After 220 years, they thought it was over. They thought they had beaten their enemy and ended the Dragon Opression. They had lost friends and family, but they had saved their world. Now, new friends have emerged, and some from the past have returned. A new prophecy was issued, defining the end of life as they know it.

Thirty days—thirty days!—to either turn Schram over to the true power on Troyf or die. The one question: Are the four weapons and staff enough to prevent the death of the dragon?

The Death of the Dragon is the continuation of Kenneth Kappelmann’s award-winning Hidden Magic series featuring The Return of the Dragons and The Dragon Unknown.
