Tyler Graham’s world is completely changed when the Psyriviox drug from Russia spreads to America. What was once an ordinary school day turns into the most unforgettable day of Tyler, and his friends, Jake, Eli, and Rufus’s lives. They must now struggle to stay alive in a world where the dead have taken over. Tyler navigates his way through a nearly inconceivable world that is both fascinating and deadly. But luckily, he has his friends to rely on (for now). Together, they become kickass zombie killers complete with armor and weapons, making an active life for themselves among the madness.
Jed Cullen takes readers on a dramatic and comedic journey with Tyler as he trudges through a world full of chaos and destruction. Tyler meets a range of characters along his journey, some helpful, some dangerous. Jed Cullen has created a world that you can easily be captivated by and get lost in. The characters are well-developed, interesting and with relatable personalities making them easy to empathize with. The writing contains great plot elements and some really exciting and unexpected twists and turns. At first, the four boys do exactly what you think they would do in an apocalypse—loot, drink, and party—until they get tired of it, and that’s when the real dramatic events start, and the anticipation and adventure begins.
Overall, Zaven is a fantastic apocalyptic teen fiction novel that is sure to leave you wanting more. With underlying and thought-provoking concepts, an intriguing story, and captivating characters, Zaven by Jed Cullen is definitely an outstanding worthy read!
