Falling Under by Gwen Hayes

Falling Under (Falling Under, #1)

by Gwen Hayes

Theia Alderson has always led a sheltered life in the small California town of Serendipity Falls. But when a devastatingly handsome boy appears in the halls of her school, Theia knows she's seen Haden before- not around town, but in her dreams.

As the Haden of both the night and the day beckons her closer one moment and pushes her away the next, the only thing Theia knows for sure is that the incredible pull she feels towards him is stronger than her fear.

And when she discovers what Haden truly is, Theia's not sure if she wants to resist him, even if the cost is her soul.

This is the first novel by Ms. Hayes that I've read and I think I will become a devoted fan. This novel reminds me a little of the the Soul Screamers series and of bad boy Patch from Hush, Hush. Theia is a strong female character, even if she doesn't think she is. She had a very restrictive upbringing that makes her feel unprepared for the world and for the high school scene. But although she is insecure, she is willing to fight for the things that matter to her, like Haden, her friends and her family.
I always enjoy a love story and nothing makes me like it more than love at first sight. The type of love that makes the rest of the world fade and your knees feel weak. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of action, creepiness, and other strange things going on.
I also loved Theia's friends, Donny and Amelia, and the male characters Gabe, Varnie and of course Haden. Their closeness and acceptance of each other is refreshing.
This cover is gorgeous. I like the font, the background of black roses, the importance of the red dress and I can't help but get hair envy (look at those curls!)
