This is a work on the history of mental healing practices from ancient times to 19th century. The book discusses various deities, mystic practices, religious rituals and of course scientific ways for mental healing. This is a general historical review of mental healing. As the author intimates in the preface, many people nowadays are misled into believing that the recent mental healing movements are new in origin and in principle, simply and solely because they are ignorant of similar movements in the past. The author's object in writing this book was to show, on the contrary, that such movements as those known as Mormonism, Dowieism and Eddyism-mental healing combined with religious vagaries-are merely repetitions of similar movements.
