Martin Curtis is a Bristolian who developed a keen interest in transport from a very early age. He grew up in Brislington where he closely observed not only the local bus operations, but also the bus manufacturing activities of Bristol Commercial Vehicles, whose premises were discreetly established among residential streets.
This led Martin to a career in the bus industry from the early 'seventies, initially with Bristol Omnibus Co., and later with Western & Southern National in Dorset, latterly as District Manager. He returned to the Bristol area in the 1980s to become a Regional Director of the Badgerline concern and is currently Managing Director of Bath Bus Company. He is also a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Logistics and Transport.
Having been a contributor to various journals (including Buses magazine) from the late 1960s, he has written a number of books, the latest of which - Olympian - is his seventh title.
