Having grown up in a Christian Church, I like a sheep, accepted and believed all that they told me. At the age of 35 I attended a major Protestant seminary. I studies the Scriptures, especially Jesus' words, and I studied Church doctrines. But I found that I couldn't reconcile church doctrines with what Jesus said. They were seemingly based on Paul's writings. So I had to choose, to follow Jesus, or Pauline based church doctrines, so I chose Jesus and left the seminary in my senior year. I am now in my 70's and I'm a truth seeker, seeking and following the truth found in Jesus's words. He said that he is to be our only teacher. And I have never, nor will I ever, look back.
