Seventeen years ago, Mae managed to escape from her abusive and controlling husband, with her two new-born children, Toby and Catherine. The escape strategy hadn't quite gone to plan, but still had the desired result. This led to her husband's incarceration for a crime that he didn't commit and fed a rage for vengeance.
