It's been a while since I read a Jack Reacher book, but it didn't take me long to get re-acclimated to him. I had to suspend some disbelief when it came to how the FBI arm-twists him into helping them, but overall I thought this was a good mystery. It kept me guessing, and I actually was surprised when it came to be time for the reveal.

Jack Reacher is back and this time he has some ‘splaining to do! Running Blind by Lee Child opens up with some Jack Reacher brand justice. Lesson here: do not mess with the proprietors of the restaurants that Jack eats at. He doesn’t like it. Right after helping out the restaurant owner, Jack’s picked up by FBI. Apparently someone has been cavorting around the country killing off women; women that have all been connected to Jack and his MP days.

Jack has landed himself right into the FBI’s hands. They picked up the two guys Jack put in the hospital. Their offer to Jack? go to prison or help them solve the case. Hopefully, they can crack the case before anyone else dies.

Lee Child delivers another great suspense novel in Running Blind. This is the fourth book in the Jack Reacher series and as the reader, you’re pretty much going to be on Jacks’ side not matter what. Even though the FBI had sound reasoning, I found myself thoroughly annoyed with them and their bully tactics. As far as the mystery I was fairly certain who the bad guy was. What kept me engaged was “How?”. A good suspense writer can keep you rapt, even if you’ve nabbed the culprit, by withholding the how. I cannot recommend the Jack Reacher series enough.

I listened to this book partially on audio book through Audible. It was pretty good. There was one male narrator and he did a great job with the voices of the cast. No matter what format you chose the book is enjoyable.
