"A Tale of Two Cities" is probably Dicken's most thrilling novel contrasting the tranquillity of London with revolution torn Paris where the tumbrils carry their victims daily to the guillotine. Incident follows incident as Sydney Carton a lawyer and wastrel, finally redeems himself and makes up for his misspent youth. Two films of the novel were made in 1935 and 1958 starring Ronald Colman and Dirk Bogarde respectively. Martin Jarvis' distinguished and versatile career has spanned from "The Forsyth Saga" to "Titanic" on the screen and from by Jeeves to Alan Ayckbourn's "Man of the Moment" on the stage. He is also well known for his "Just William" readings. Other Dickens titles he has read for CSA Word are "Oliver Twist", "David Copperfield", "Great Expectations", "Nicholas Nickleby" and "A Christmas Carol".
