We visit Norman, Oklahoma where furniture maker and teacher Bill Hull shows us how to fabricate curved panels using pliable plywood and a variety of veneers. Then it's out into the country to visit the shop of Wesley and Lloyd Thomas, nationally known as masters of faux finishing, who share with us some of their unique methods for distressing and aging furniture to produce fabulous patinas that would otherwise take years to develop. In the northern woodlands of New Jersey, we explore: traditional stick-framing, but this time for a truly unusual work-in-progress known as Luna Parc: the ever-growing estate of madcap artist Ricky Boscarino. We meet Steve Kaulback, who demonstrates the step-by-step process of building one of the most beautiful lake craft: the Adirondack Guide Boat. Lastly, we introduce David Wiebe, who trained in Europe to become a violinmaker. This exacting craft has been practised for over four hundred years but remains a deep mystery for most woodworkers. This is your chance to see how wood is cut and shaped and planed to produce exquisite musical instruments.
Also: * Tips from well-known finishing expert Bob Flexner, and David Wiebe demonstrates a remarkable holding device: the Monsterballvise.
