I always love stories that involve the fae and this author has done just that but this time our character is not just fae she is half human half fae. I really do love that this character drowns herself in books to escape her reality. "Books have saved my sanity more times than I can count, and if i'd ever needed saving it was now"
Aria Fae has been caste out of the life she always known and so she just kind of floating around trying to find her way and what she really needs a new mission and that she looking for what every person who lost their way she looking for a home a place that belongs and calls to her. As the story progresses Aria does find that mission and ends up finding along the way a bit more about the fae part of herself and we get a small glimpse into that world she left.

In the end "Aria is a warrior, and no matter the ferocity of the beast at her back, she would turn and fight and it at the very least would remember her name. "

I am excited that this is going to be six book series currently and that they will all be out this year. Happy reading.

The Halfing is a fun start to what I expect to be a super exciting series! Aria Fae has just been exiled from her home world. She's half-fae and was trained as a warrior, but now she's just a normalish teenage girl trying to scrape by. Lucky for her, she meets tech genius Sam on her first day of school, and finds someone who she can be honest with, so she won't be so alone in this new world. Together the girls decide to use their talents to find out what happened to Sam's mom, while also stopping a deadly drug known as Black Magic from taking over their city.

Fairy vigilante! How can you not want to read about a fairy vigilante, which is exactly what The Halfling is about. Aria uses her super speed, strength, and other fae abilities to stop drug addicts and criminals from committing more crimes. Meanwhile, Sam creates gadgets and runs their lair. I know it seems really improbable, but it was so fun. And it does make perfect sense once you get to know these girls. Sam is lonely and just wants to know what happened the night her mother died. Aria is depressed because she lost her sense of purpose and self when she was cut off from her kind. Teaming up gives both girls the connection that they need. And it's just action packed, exciting, and fun!

Really, the best word for The Hafling was fun. It was a feel good read and just made me happy. I loved this mashup of fae and superhero. And the relationship between Sam and Aria gave me all of the squishy feelings! Plus, their friendship is front and center over any blossoming romance that may be there. Yes, there are boys that Aria has her eyes on, but who has time for kissing when there's bad guys to stop and best friends to hang out with? Although I do expect (and hope) there will be kissing later.
