Cheyenne who has been legally blind after an accident, three years ago. On the way home from the doctor one night her stepmom leaves her in the car, so that she can just run in and get the prescription for Cheyenne's pneumonia. This is when we meet Griffin who has decided to carjack the nice car in order to prove to his dad that he is capable of something. He doesn't realize Cheyenne is in the back until it is too late, and he is already left the parking lot.
This causes a lot of panic in both of them, which leads to Cheyenne being kidnapped, because Griffin is afraid to take her back.
Once back at his home though things turn from kind of bad, to really bad when his dad and his work buddies see what griffin has and learn who she is after watching the news. This leads to Griffin starting to be pretty protective of Cheyenne, and Cheyenne learning that she's going to have to make someone care in order to make it out of this alive.
Along the way get to learn more about why Griffin's family is the way it is and how bad is has dad really is. We also get to learn more about how Cheyenne became blind, what happened to her mom, and how she is able to get around now and return to somewhat of her old life just in a different way.
This book does tend to focus more on each of them in what lead them to this point, instead of being about the kidnapping or things to do with the present.
I found this part very interesting, but it wasn't very much like a thriller, which is what I was expecting from this book. I think the second book is going to be more thrilling and I'm hoping to read it is as well this month.
This was based off of a real life story, where a blind girl was in a car while it was carjacked, she was thankfully let out not too far from where she had been taken. Obviously this story goes down a different path in to what could have happened if she hadn't been let go.
