Leilani Barnett is an author, educator, world traveler, and social activist who has used journaling successfully in classrooms and workshops for more than 25 years. She holds a Bachelor's degree with a double major in English and journalism and Master's degrees in literature and educational leadership. Currently, Leilani is completing a Ph.D. and expanding her international writing workshop tours through WritingAdventures.com. Her work has appeared in English Journal, Wanderlust: A Travel Journal, Perceptions, The Westchester Review, Alabama English, and other publications. Leilani is also a frequent speaker on the topics ofwriting, traveling, and journaling. She has been a workshop leader or speaker for the Institute of International Education, the National Council of Teachers of English, the International Reading Association, The Alabama A&M National Writing Project, the Toyota International Teacher Program, the Texas Writers Guild, and other organizations. A journal-keeper since she began forming words on paper, Leilani has experienced first-hand the benefits of journaling her way to a life full of service, deeper spiritual practices, satisfying work, and enriching relationships. Leilani lives in Dallas, Texas with her family and her beloved chihuahua/minpin where she teaches writing and American literature at a private Catholic School and leads a meetup group for area authors called Write Now.
